One Mustang driver recently pulled off a bait and switch on Arkansas State Troopers. A video shows the driver pull over for the police and then have a cordial conversation before he smokes the tires and leaves the officers in the dust.

Evidently, the incident occurred on September 23rd, 2022, and involved a driver with a warrant and two officers including Trooper Rand Lace. What starts off as a routine traffic stop ends up in a very high-speed chase.

“Hey, I ran this tag… this guy… he might have a warrant with the Marshall’s service… if it’s the one I ran,” we hear the officer say as the two cars pull off the road. After a brief interchange, the officer acquires an ID from the driver and heads back to his car. After a report comes back we hear the officer say “That’d be him.”

The officers both get out and attempt to apprehend the driver but after they tell him that he’s got a warrant, he decides to run. Within moments, the Ford Mustang GT is far in the distance still with its hazards flashing for a few moments before the driver finally shuts them off. The police cruiser accelerates to catch up but it’s ill-equipped.

Within 30 seconds from the moment that the driver begins to run the Mustang is so far out of sight that it’s long since left the view of the camera. In fact, as far as we can see, it never comes back into view. Of course, that doesn’t stop the officers from attempting to chase it down at speeds of 130 mph (209 km/h).

Roughly three minutes into the chase, the police begin to come across a number of 18-wheelers blocking much of the road, and by the four-minute mark, the trucks aren’t moving over fast enough to allow the police to continue the chase.

The police call off the chase and that’s that. We’ve searched high and low for more information on who this driver might have been, what happened to them after the chase, or whether or not they’re still evading law enforcement.
