The new Mercedes-AMG SL 63 is not to be underestimated, as this recent review from AutoTopNL reveals.
Powering the flagship Mercedes roadster is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that is good for 577 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Mercedes claims the car can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds and a 196 mph (315 km/h) top speed but as this reviewer discovered, it is actually faster than the German automaker claims.

During a high-speed run down the Autobahn, the reviewer was able to push the car through to 328 km/h (204 mph) as indicated on the digital speedometer. Not only is that top speed impressive but the poise and ease at which it hits that figure is also quite remarkable and confirms that Mercedes-AMG has indeed cooked up something very special with the new SL.
The car delivers some other impressive straight-line feats. Indeed, it is able to run from 100-200 km/h (62-124 mph) in 7.73 seconds, eclipsing a Dodge Charger Hellcat, BAC Mono, and almost matching the 7.72 seconds of the new Bentley Continental GT Speed. It also ran the quarter-mile in 11.25 seconds, just a touch slower than the 11.23 second time recorded by the Maserati MC20 and the 11.21 second time of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.
Remarkably, the SL 63 isn’t expected to sit at the top of the SL family for much longer with the car manufacturer said to be developing an SL 63e variant that is expected to borrow its hardware from the 831 hp AMG GT 63 E 4-Door.
