The driver of this new BMW M3 just couldn’t lift their foot off the throttle

Driving a powerful, rear-wheel drive car in the rain can be plenty of fun, allowing you to spin up the wheels with ease and at slow speeds with just the lightest touch of the throttle. However, doing this requires a certain level of skill and clearly, the driver of this BMW M3 Competition doesn’t possess enough skill to do this safely.

This clip that was shared on Reddit by user Cofibot on Idiotincars was apparently filmed in Southern California during a rare day when the sun wasn’t shining and there was rain falling. Initially, we can see the driver of the new BMW M3 kicking out the tail of the sports sedan while making a right-hand turn at an intersection.

The driver manages to hold and control this slide quite well but after wrestling the sedan back into a straight direction, continues to keep the throttle pinned. As the M3 starts to build up speed, it suddenly kicks to the right and unable to control this unexpected slide, the driver jumps on the brakes but it was too late. The BMW ends up smashing into a light pole on the side of the road, knocking it down and spinning the M3 around almost 180 degrees.

Given that this M3 has been equipped with a number of aftermarket parts, we think it’s fair to assume that the owner really liked the car and is an enthusiast. Evidently, they clearly need more experience driving in wet conditions.

This video cuts out the moment that the sedan crashed into the light pole so it’s unclear how much damage it sustained. However, the impact looked quite hefty so we wouldn’t be at all surprised if the car needs some expensive repairs.
