Did Waze Just Detect This Crash Before It Happened? | Carscoops
The Waze app seemingly alerted the driver to a crash mere seconds before a pickup rear-ended a FedEx truck

Waze is arguably the best navigation app that’s currently available and as this video shows, it has the ability to detect an accident before it happens. Or can it?
This intriguing dashcam video was recently shared to Reddit and captures the moment a collision occurred between a white pickup truck and a FedEx truck. What’s unusual is that Waze being used by the cammer appears to detect the crash before it happens.
In the video, the white pickup truck can be seen pulling in behind the FedEx truck and directly in front of the cammer. The pickup driver keeps his turn signal on and seems to have been looking to change into the middle lane. Moments later, Waze can be heard warning the cammer that there is a “crash reported ahead.” Less than a second later, the truck slams into the rear of the FedEx truck.

The driver of the pickup was in no mood to pull over and exchange details with the FedEx driver and before long, changes into the left-hand lane and makes a run for it.
Now, did Waze actually predict this crash? As much as we’d love to say it did, that’s not the case.

Writing in the Reddit comments of the post, the cammer reveals that there was another accident “just slightly further up the road” that Waze was responding to. It was just a coincidence that the warning came at almost the exact moment that this separate accident occurred.
