Rimac Nevera Makes The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Seem Average

Ever since its introduction, the Bugatti Chiron has been the standard by which all new hypercars are judged. However, this new review from Evo Magazine reveals that the Chiron has been officially dethroned by the all-electric Rimac Nevera.

Given that Bugatti and Rimac now operate as a joint venture, Evo Magazine decided it would be the perfect time to see how their two flagship models compare. The Chiron tested is the hugely-impressive Super Sport variant and for as well-rounded as it is, it doesn’t seem to be able to hold a candle to the Nevera.

In terms of performance, the Chiron Super Sport is powered by an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 with 1,578 hp and 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque. Those are extraordinary figures and make the Chiron Super Sport one of the quickest production cars ever designed. By comparison, the Nevera is driven by four electric motors combining to deliver 1,914 hp and 1,741 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) of torque.

Steve Sutcliffe says that for as fast as the Chiron Super Sport is, the Rimac Nevera simply blows it out of the water in a straight line. Making the Nevera all the more impressive is the revelation that it handles and brakes better than the Bugatti. Indeed, he says that anything the Chiron Super Sport can do, the Nevera can do three times better.

That’s extraordinarily high praise for a car from such a young company and is its first proper production car after the Concept One which spawned just eight examples between January 2013 and November 2014.
