Tesla Supercharger ICE’d By Chevy Silverado Left Idling One Day, A Lamborghini The Next

Some people in Boisbriand, Quebec, are still, apparently, behind the times, as two recent examples of Tesla Superchargers being ICE’d demonstrate. There’s something about these examples that is particularly galling.

Drive Tesla Canada recently shared photos of one Supercharger parking spot being blocked by internal combustion vehicles on two separate occasions. In one case, a Lamborghini Huracán was the car blocking the space.

That the owner of a V10-powered Italian supercar felt entitled to block EV drivers’ access to the electricity that they need to drive is, somehow, ironic. The supercar, for those keeping score, gets 15 MPG combined, according to the EPA.

The more egregious of the two examples, though, happened just a day earlier, when a Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD High Country blocked the spot. Not only was it parked in front of the charger, though, it was actually idling.

The outlet reports that when the owner of the truck returned to his vehicle, around 15-20 minutes after the Tesla driver arrived there, he was asked why he was blocking the charger and why he left the truck on. The owner replied, sarcastically, that he dreamed of one day owning a Tesla.

Never mind that leaving a vehicle idling for an extended period of time is one of the most effective ways of wasting fuel and money, blocking an EV charging spot can lead to a ticket in the Canadian province. The government there can fine bad parkers up to $125 CAD ($95 USD at current exchange rates).
