Throwing around one’s weight can sometimes be a good thing but when two semi-truck drivers do it in a fit of road rage, it’s just stupid. That was the case on I-49 in Louisiana on Wednesday when two 18-wheeler drivers attempted to force one another off of the highway. Video of the pair went viral and helped lead authorities to each party.

In the video, we see two big rigs seemingly pushing one another around on the highway before they ultimately cause all of the traffic behind them to slow and come to a stop.

“I witnessed the most crazy (and scary) thing on the interstate coming home today!!!!  I haven’t ever seen 2 big trucks fighting in the middle of road… and before I started videoing, one of the trucks hit the other’s trailer with his, nearly causing him to wreck. I literally could not believe what I was witnessing lol,” said Kristin Hill Wilson, the woman who posted the clip.

The road rage incident quickly spread across the internet and police were alerted in the comment section on Facebook. Shortly thereafter, it identified both drivers. The Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Office put out a statement about the matter on Facebook.

It confirms that one of the two drivers involved is already under arrest. That man is Omar Berrios Martinez, 44. He’s charged with reckless operation with no accident and a felony of aggravated obstruction of a highway. Evidently, the other driver is cooperating and on their way back to the area.

“Contact has also now been made with the driver of the other semi-truck from the video. At the time of this post, the driver is being cooperative with law enforcement, and headed back to our area to turn himself in. Matters as to why the incident took place remain under investigation,” the police said.

The Sheriff’s Office also called out the nature in which they were alerted to the issue. “Facebook is a third party application that does not consistently, nor efficiently, notify us when we receive a new message, tag, comment, etc.

“When time is of the essence in saving lives, we cannot rely or depend on social media to take its time in notifying us of a message. So please, be sure that you are reporting crimes through the proper channels to ensure a swift and efficient response,” it said. We’re just glad everybody made it out of this ridiculous incident safely.
